In the latest broadcast of "Confessions", director Ly Hai revealed that initially, he chose to study acting in a drama class, but later he fell in love with singing.
At the present time, Ly Hai has returned to his original profession. Starting from 2010, he asked his wife to select and translate foreign film materials to study and learn how to produce films, learn scriptwriting.
Ly Hai particularly focused on studying directing. The learning period was condensed within 3 years.
"In 2014, I wrote the script and made the first film "Face Off". In the early stage, I decided to stop singing to switch to a new field. I was nervous because I didn't know if filmmaking was suitable for me, if I could do it... My wife always supported me. Fortunately, the first film "Face Off" was supported and loved by the audience," he said.

The director revealed that when he first met Minh Ha, when buying movie tickets at the theater, he once wished that if he could sit and watch his own movie, it would be amazing.
He said: "So now, I keep working tirelessly and don't feel tired. Once I have set a goal, I will focus tremendously. When writing a script, within 1 month, I write day and night and have to come up with the backbone. When I'm on set, I am meticulous and relatively demanding."
With this work style, Ly Hai has achieved resounding success with the "Face Off" series. The latest installment "Face Off 7: A Wish" has grossed 286 billion VND as of the morning of May 6, according to the data from Box Office Vietnam (an independent statistical unit), officially surpassing "Face Off 6: Destiny Ticket" with 273 billion VND.
The total revenue of the 7 "Face Off" installments has made Ly Hai the second director to reach 1,000 billion VND in the Vietnamese box office (second to Tran Thanh with over 1,400 billion VND from 3 Tet films).
However, the director affirmed: "Ly Hai never thinks he is rich. Initially, when investing in films, I just hoped to have enough money to make them. But luckily for me, the films were well received by the audience, quickly recouped the investment, made profits for reinvestment. That's why the later installments were invested more than the earlier ones."
